A Belfast headquartered agri technology company has launched its first ever apprenticeship programme which will help employees within its production and distribution operations gain formal qualifications.
The new Devenish apprenticeship programme launches this month and will see an initial group of 11 employees, based in the company’s Belfast animal feed mill and distribution centre, study towards an Apprenticeship in Food Services Team Leading.
The apprentices will take monthly classes, working through study modules, receiving ongoing feedback and completing a final assignment for their Team Leading vocational qualification. They will then progress onto Essential Skills classes in early 2020 which will culminate with additional qualifications in the areas of English and Maths.
Ryan Connor, People Development Manager, Devenish said: “Our people are our most valuable asset and it is our responsibility to provide a range of development initiatives to enable every one of them to fulfil their potential.
“We’re delighted to launch this new programme, another first for Devenish, and we hope to see an enhanced level of confidence, motivation and performance stemming from the experience. It is excellent to see such an appetite for learning and development from our colleagues, as they gain skills and qualifications which will help their career with Devenish and beyond in life.”
Devenish develops innovative nutritional products and solutions for the feed industry, the food industry and for human health. Headquartered in Belfast, it has manufacturing sites across Ireland, the UK, USA, Turkey and Uganda, and exports to over 50 countries.
