Northern Ireland Audit Office

The Northern Ireland Audit Office (NIAO) was established under the provisions of the Audit (Northern Ireland) Order 1987. It is headed by Dorinnia Carville, the Comptroller and Auditor General for Northern Ireland (C&AG). The C&AG and the NIAO are completely independent of government. The NIAO has a pivotal role in helping to build a modern, high performing public service that is accountable to taxpayers and citizens. Our audit work covers 108 public organisations which spend over £25.7 billion of public money annually.

This is an exciting time for NIAO as we modernise our working practices and we have transformed our office accommodation to provide an innovative and vibrant working environment. The NIAO currently offers a hybrid working pattern consisting of working at client sites, at headquarters in Belfast and from home.
