Requirements

  • Degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy or equivalent is essential
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a Band 6 role
  • Experience working with adults with learning disabilities
  • Current professional membership required
  • Driving licence with access to car for community-based role
  • Candidates will be subject to enhanced vetting including an enhanced Access NI check and compliance due to the nature of this work
  • Up to date Immunisation records to complete a full occupational health review
  • Ability to build rapport with ease
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills

Responsibilities

  • Prioritise, assess and manage own patient caseload
  • In-depth awareness of relevant legislation and trends in Health and Social Care
  • Evidence of expert clinical knowledge to provide appropriate assessment/intervention
  • Work autonomously to undertake comprehensive standardised and non-standardised assessments in all aspects of occupational performance
  • Deliver a service, which meets all organisational and professional responsibilities
  • Prepare/present appropriate specialist professional reports as required
  • Communicate effectively with patients and ensure there is an understanding of their condition
  • Promote and support effective team working, fostering a culture of openness and transparency
  • Support the service’s leadership team
  • Maintain a high level of safety to ensure all service users are kept safe
