VANRATH are recruiting a Health Safety Environmental Officer to work for a leading fit out contractor based in Dundonald, Northern Ireland.

Remuneration:
c£30,000 to £40,000 DOE + package

Client:
Our client is a leading interior fit-out contractor that have been operating for over 50 years. They specialise in creating outstanding interior fit-outs for the commercial, hospitality and retail sectors. The company take pride in creating bespoke solutions for their clients and due to the quality of their work win a lot of repeat business.

The company have a lot of projects on in Belfast, with many more in the pipeline. They are looking for a HSE Officer to cover these sites in Belfast, on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

Environmental Management:

  • Assist the HSE Manager in developing strategies and internal policies to ensure compliance with HSE legislation across all areas in which the business operates
  • Carry out any relevant reporting obligations in line with legislative requirements
  • Investigate incidents to determine and address the root cause
  • Oversee environmental initiatives, such as waste management for all business activities, to minimise the business's environmental impact
  • Maintain up-to-date records of incidents, training, inspections and other relevant data
  • Continuous monitoring of HSE performance, trend analysis and implementation of improvements to enhance environmental performance
  • Oversee contractor management to ensure their compliance with legislation
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices and regulatory changes
  • Look for reuse opportunities for existing parts and parts within new projects in line with the waste hierarchy
  • Attend International Synergies resource matching events to find innovative solutions for waste resources
  • Calculating transport routes from stores to our recycling facility for calculation of CO2e of transport
  • Logging stores, parts and fixtures sent/received
  • Manage zero waste to landfill audit

Health and Safety Management:

  • Assist the H&S Manager with maintaining the company’s ISO Management System
  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental practices into daily operations
  • Respond to employees' concerns and implement systems for improvements

Experience:

  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent qualification)
  • Experience working with Power BI
  • Experience with ISO4001
  • Track record working in a similar role
  • Good communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Self motivated team player
  • Technician membership of IOSH or similar is ideal
